Its coat was probably tawny with darker stripes, like that of a modern lion. What a beast of a feline this is, huh? The American Lion sure was something else.
❃ It was most common in the Rancholabrean land bridge period (130,000 to 10,000 years ago), when it was widespread across North America. It went extinct around 10,000 years ago, along with many other large animals of the Pleistocene.
