❃ Nothosaurus was a large, aquatic reptile that lived during the Late Triassic period. It grew to be about 20 feet long and weighed up to 2 tons. Nothosaurus had a long neck, a small head, and sharp needlelike teeth. Quite an interesting savage, isn't it? The Nothosaurus just knows how to keep you at bay.
❃ It was an excellent swimmer and could stay submerged for long periods of time. Nothosaurus probably fed on fish, mollusks, and other small aquatic animals. It is known from fossils found in Europe, North Africa and China.
❃ They were one of the first reptiles to evolve into an air-breathing animal, and it is thought that this ability allowed it to live in shallow water where other reptiles could not survive.
