❃ Oviraptorosaurs are a group of feathered theropod dinosaurs. They were small to medium-sized feathered carnivores that flourished in the Cretaceous Period. The name Oviraptor means "egg stealer", and refers to the fact that some fossils were found near eggshells. However, it is now known that these dinosaurs actually nested in the eggs, and may have even been their primary caretakers. The "egg stealer," huh? If that doesn't get you to check out this small dino, then I don't know what will.
❃ They were relatively small animals, with most species measuring between 1 and 1.5 meters in length. They had long necks and tails, and were bipedal, meaning they walked on two legs. Their arms were relatively short, and ended in three-fingered hands.
❃ Most oviraptorosaurs were covered in feathers, with the exception of a few species that were either partially or completely naked. The feathers served both to keep the animals warm and to help them fly or glide.
